Getting started
Who can play in season one?
Boys and girls in grades 1 through 8, grouped as 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8. Teams are formed based on registration, pending OYL and OGLA approval.
Who is eligible to play?
It depends on the league. Boys (OYL): any private school student is eligible, and public school students need a waiver from the youth club in the district where they live. Girls (OGLA): players play for the program in their area unless OGLA approves a transfer. Our clinics and select teams are open to everyone, and we welcome families from all faith backgrounds, or none. See the Eligibility page for details.
My child has never played. Is that okay?
Yes. Everything we do is built on the fundamentals, and our coaches teach the game from the ground up.
Cost
How much does it cost?
The player registration fee for the season is $100 for grades 1/2 and $250 for grades 3/4 through 7/8. We'll confirm any other costs before registration opens.
Equipment
What if we can't afford equipment?
No player will be turned away for lack of gear. We're privately funding a loaner gear inventory for any player who can't purchase the required equipment.
What equipment does my child need?
Boys need a helmet, gloves, a stick, a mouthguard, and chest & arm pads. Girls need goggles, a girls stick and a mouthguard; headgear is optional. Most players already have some or all of it.
Schedule
When and where are practices?
Practices are on weekdays. Days, times and fields for each team are being finalized. Potential practice sites include Valley Catholic, St. John Fisher and St. Pius. Jesuit will host 3 of our home games, and we hope to host one at Valley Catholic.
When are games?
Games are on Saturdays from March through May. We hope to host 4–6 home games, and older teams may also play in tournaments like SALI, BOLO and the Oregon Cup.
Safety
How do you keep players safe?
Every coach completes mandatory training in first aid, safety, AED protocols and concussion protocols, and we have an Emergency Action Plan for both practices and games.
